The description of the woman and her twisted world in the second verse is a depiction of how heroin makes one believe that their life is better because of all these superficial feelings so the lyrics are stocked with material images" "Tiffany-twisted" shows her mind being warped by this material designer and the Mercedes. The boys that she plays around with shows the fact that she isn"t loyal or giving back the people she tempts she doesn"t owe anything to them and she has them at her disposal" she doesn"t call them anything but "friends". This relates to the fact that people sort of have this love affair with heroin but it is a Drug an inanimate object that doesn"t feel back. The "dance" represents using heroin" they dance with her" and some people use drugs for different reasons" some dance with her to remember how good it feels to be with her to be using the drug and some use it to forget how it feels not to be to avoid the real sober world When he calls for wine and the captain responds saying "we haven"t had that spirit since 1969" it relates to the fact that heroin and alcohol don"t mix and heroin is a depressant in that it makes you drowsy and cozy while alcohol inspires energy and the partying spirit that embodied the 1960"s. I love metaphorical music I'm not a drug addict I promise It just seems that all of the music from this era can be inturpreted this way. Unlike today musicians could not flat-out speak of their debauchery so they used metaphors. It started with Muddy Waters was copied by the Stones and Beatles re-invented by Bob Dylan and killed by the blunt rappers who can say anything and still get on the radio. Walks in and then it becomes Fellini-esque-strange women effeminate men shadowy corridors disembodied voices debauchery illusion...Weirdness. So we thought "let's really take some chances. However just this Christmas day I was with family and the household happened to have a superb DVD/Dolby surround setup and the man of the house received the DVD-A of 'Hotel California' as a gift. He put it on and I was there to experience this already time-honored album in glorious multi-channel surround sound. If you thought you've heard enough of the Eagles' best album you ought to give this a chance the classic title track alone makes it worth the purchase. You will hear cymbal swells guitar parts separated and panned vocals and all that is the musical brilliance of this album as you never have before. "Wasted Time" sounds so good it will make you weep this was always one of my favorite Eagles album tracks as is "The Last Resort" also benefitting from the DVD-A treatment ... highly recommended for Eagles classic rock and music fans in general needing to hear how good either the DVD-A or SACD format can be. By combining with Don Felder they created a potent tandem and pushed the band to a harder sound. Like many other residents in the state the band are not native Californians. Despite that fact they have become synonymous with Southern California. On this album they examine all the high and lows of the land of hopes and dreams. The word classic is thrown around a little too often but the album's title track is one of only a handful of songs that are worthy of the title. From the opening guitar riff to the cynical and vivid lyrics to the closing guitar coda the song is a tour de force. Don Henley sings with a snarl in his voice and Mr. Walsh and Mr. Felder trade guitar licks in a can you top this fashion. The song is a masterpiece became their third number single won the 1977 Grammy for Record of the Year and one never tires of hearing it. quot New Kid In Town quot was the album's other number single and Glenn Frey sings with a smooth charm. The song perfectly captures that breezy Southern California sound the Eagles made famous. quot Life In The Fast Lane quot is the infamous rocker that details the hedonistic lifestyle of the late 70's that the band wholeheartedly embraced. quot Wasted Time quot is pretty ballad and the orchestral reprise of the song leads into a stinging rocker quot Victim Of Love quot . Don Henley had expressed several years ago his dissatisfaction with the sound of the Eagles' catalog. Wisely the two albums DCC chose to remaster is the Greatest Hits now the biggest selling album and this one What hits your ears immediately is the bass. The songs have a bottom to them that was lost when issued in the mid 80's. There is also tremendous clarity in the high end as well. The superior sound makes this CD worth the extra cost The CD duplicates the orginal album complete with gatefold sleeve fold out poster and inner jacket. Oh and let me correct an error in describing an uncollected b-side that would make a contender for an expanded Eagles singles anthology when I reviewed the Eagles Greatest Hits gold disc. I had said that Get You In The Mood the b-side of Take It Easy was written by Henley-Frey. In fact the song was only written by Frey. Eu acho muito engraçado quando esses animais andam no meio da rua na maior calma como se nada estivesse errado. Uma vez eu vi um desses veadões andando na calçada de uma rua aqui pertinho. Demorei pra entender o que estava acontecendo. Eles já estão tão acostumados com os carros e com as pessoas que deixam chegar bem perto. Mas não são dos mais amigáveis não. No Brasil eu peço um cafézinho e brigadeiro aqui eu peço o que tem porque as opções no final da tarde nunca são muitas. Eu tenho meu lugar preferido em Berkeley que falei aqui mas ainda faltava encontrar A opção na cidade. Semana passada estivemos no Blue Bottle Café na Mint Plaza um quase beco super escondinho bem perto da Powell Station. O lugar é super gostoso ultra badalado cheio de gente tomando café às 4 da tarde e comendo um docinho. Mas o melhor mesmo é que ninguém expulsou a gente de lá como fazem normalmente verdade já saí de cafés às 5 30 com a garçonete passando a vassoura no meu pé . Saímos de lá quase 6 e ainda tinha bastante gente. Boa solução pra quem quer comer uma coisinha e relaxar antes de voltar pro hotel no final do dia. Estivemos no café da Mint Plaza mas o Blue Bottle Café tem vários endereços pela cidade veja aqui. Preparem-se pra um belo congestionamento já que num dia normal 16000 ciclistas e pedestres atravessam a ponte. Com o verão esses números podem aumentar consideravelmente. O lado de fora da ponte lado esquerdo sentido São Francisco #8211 Sausalito geralmente usado pelos ciclistas é o lado que estará fechado nesse periodo. Dá pra acreditar A app tem 90% de chance de acertar uma vez que demora 60 segundos pra receber a informação sobre uma nova vaga. A idéia é fazer com que os carros circulem menos e gastem menos gasolina além de diminuir os congestionamentos. Até que vai ajudar não Foto SFChronicle Mas nem tudo são flores pra quem estaciona na cidade. A partir do final do mês de junho os espaços pra estacionamento na rua parquímetros terão seus valores ajustados de acordo com a oferta e procura por vagas. Isso quer dizer que quanto menos vagas disponíveis mais você paga pra estacionar. Em dias de eventos os preços podem ficar bem caros. Mais um ótimo motivo pra usar sempre o Bart sempre que for possível.
